Pragati Maidan Located on Mathura Road, next to Purana Qila, this 149 acres of extensive ground, is rated as the finest exhibition complex in Asia.Besides the 15 giant exhibition halls, there is 10,000 square metres of open area for trade related exhibitions.The complex has various interesting sites like the National Science Centre, Hall of Nations, the unique Crafts Museum and the States Pavillion. The Nehru Pavillion, Atomic Energy and Defence Pavillion are also of considerable interest.
India Trade Promotion Organisation manages Pragati Maidan and holds national and international trade fairs. They provide a perfect platform for exchange of technical knowledge, industrial collaborations and joint ventures.These trade fairs attract large crowds throughout the year.
Pragati Maidan is also the hub of cultural activities. It has two popular auditoriums, Shakuntalam and Falukhnama. An amusement park for children called 'Apu Ghar'is also located here. Fast food stalls and restaurants makes Pragati Maidan a favourite complex.
Connaught Place
One of Delhi's most popular shopping and business centres, was built in 1931.It comprises of two concentric circles with colonial style buildings surrounded by a park. These buildings can be reached through the inner, middle and the outer circles.here. Janpath is one of the busiest roads in New Delhi and is adjacent to Connaught place. The office of the tourism department of India is located at Janpath.They are open from Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 6.00 pm.and on Saturday from 9-00 am to 1.00pm.
Chandni Chowk
This location dates back to 1648, which was beautifully planned by Jahanara, daughter of Emperor Shah Jahan. Today, this main street of Old Delhi is a colourful and congested wholesale market.Antiques as well as modern items are available here.
Dilli Haat
This food and crafts bazaar, opposite INA Market, is a one-stop shopping place for tourists. It not only offers various arts and handicrafts of India, but also a taste of the ethnic cuisine. Visitors can also witness the different performing arts of the country.
