Temple Street Night Market

When you think ‘Temple Street’, think drama, cheap theatre, Chinatown and festivities. For it is in this market that it all begins to unfold at dusk. The myriad stalls at this night market sell an assortment of inexpensive goods and plenty of menswear and accessories. This bazaar has plenty of local atmosphere and you feel like you’re on the sets of a B-grade Chinese movie. Fortune-tellers pretend to hold your fate in their hands while Chinese ‘opera’ troupes vye for your attention. And oblivious to these goings-on, locals put their heads together over chess boards outside the Tin Hau temple that gives this market its name. Stanley Market has ‘ghetto’ written all over it and is an experience to savour. Location: Temple Street, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon.
