Hong Kong For Kids
Hong Kong Disneyland
Opened in September 2005, Hong Kong’s Disneyland is the smallest of Disneylands anywhere in the world. But that only means the fun is more intense.
Located in the Southern District or the southern part of Hong Kong Island, Ocean Park is another huge draw, for both children and adults alike. Far from being a classic theme park with more of the same, this one is divided into two basic sections – the Summit and the Waterfront.
Lurking in the brackish waters of the Pearl River estuary at Lantau Island is a wonderful surprise – around 100 and 200 bubble-gum pink dolphins (erroneously called Chinese white dolphins) who surface periodically to regale visitors who come here to seek them out.
Or so it would seem. The truth is, this once perfect habitat for these dolphins is now less than perfect, plagued by environmental pollution that’s caused their numbers to dwindle.
Dolphinwatch aims to raise awareness about these endangered creatures and organises a 2.5-hour cruise to Tung Chung on Lantau Island. A must-do! Location: Lantau Island
